From concept to reality, the Whiskey Row Lofts project involved years of preparation, demolition and construction, then signature finishing touches

Developers

Whiskey Row Lofts is a project that was co-developed by CITY Properties Group and siblings Valle and Stephen Jones. The team set out on this historic renovation with the goal of creating a pedestrian-oriented mixed use community with unique features, seldom found in downtown renovations.

131 West Main Street has been in the Jones family since 1984. In 2008, the acquisition of the adjoining Burwinkle-Hendershot building was completed, creating sufficient massing for a renovation that would retain most of the unique features of the building.

Weyland Ventures, led by Bill Weyland, is a multi-disciplinary real estate development firm known for creating unique mixed-use properties in Louisville’s downtown, incorporating residential, commercial, retail, and entertainment uses. Staff includes representatives from architecture, urban planning, historic preservation, asset management, property management, marketing, events planning, and commercial and residential real estate leasing. Each of these disciplines support the vision of creating and maintaining new urban neighborhoods by preserving Louisville’s unique heritage and creating new urban places.

Julie LaValle ("Valle") Jones has been working in real estate development and finance in both Boston, MA, Durham, NC, and Louisville, KY for more than 25 years. Valle was co-developer of SouthCourt, a 148,000 sq. ft. mixed use class A office and retail development in Durham, NC. She has also been involved in developing and securing financing for over 1,000 units of affordable and market rate housing and approximately 1 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate (Class A offices, shopping centers, neighborhood commercial, and flex/industrial space) including new construction and historic renovations.

Stephen Jones has been running a family owned real estate development company called Greensward Inc., for 18 years. As President of Greensward Inc., Stephen has developed more than 300 acres of lakefront land into low density, high-end vacation properties.
